Carmarthenshire is home to a range of family attractions and activities – so whether you’re looking for an educational visit or a fun-filled day out with the kids, you need look no further.

THE NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES is enjoyed by children of all ages - as well as their parents and grandparents alike! The little ones will love exploring the Great Glasshouse with its exotic plants, waterfall and lake, go wild at the Roots and Shoots adventure zone, and learn all about animals and plants by following the new garden trail for six to twelve years olds.

At the NATIONAL WOOL MUSEUM and DOLAUCOTHI GOLDMINES children will love having a go at spinning wool and panning for gold, so these two wonderful heritage attractions clearly prove that learning can be fun!

For all animal lovers, a visit to MERLIN'S HILL CENTRE is a must. Here visitors can meet the resident farm animals and find out all about farm life. THE RED KITE FEEDING STATION and the NATIONAL WETLANDS CENTRE are also worth a visit by nature loving families.

Children will love a trip on the GWILI RAILWAY - the only steam standard gauge railway operating in South West Wales. If you're lucky and you visit at the right time, they can enjoy the extremely popular 'A Day Out with Thomas' event. For the more adventurous and energetic, there are endless exciting activities to try... from horseriding (try MARROS RIDING CENTRE or CAE IAGO RIDING CENTRE) to mountain biking and from go-karting to sailing. Visit MORFA BAY ADVENTURE in Pendine and choose from surfing, abseiling, land yachting, high ropes, mountain biking, archery and many more. Carmarthenshire’s beaches are perfect for families – clean, safe and never too busy. Chose from the endless beaches of Cefn Sidan and Pendine Sands or visit Llansteffan where you can also climb to the wonderful castle overlooking the beach.

Just across the east boundary of the county, marvel at the vast caves at DAN YR OGOF SHOWCAVES in Swansea and just over the border in Pembrokeshire, enjoy the thrills and spills of OAKWOOD THEME PARK.
