Llansteffan is an impressive castle sited on a hilltop with beautiful views across Llansteffan beach and the Tywi estuary. The castle originated in the early twelfth century, built by the the Norman conquerers of Britain, however, just before the magnificent gatehouse - today's main access point - the remains of Iron Age earthworks are visible in the bracken and trees that front the castle.
